Unchanged side for england which is disappointing, since i thought the
whole idea
of ending jimmys career was giving a go to the next generation before
the runin
to the next ashes. Presumably that will only happen if someone gets
injured, which
is likely in woods case. Stokes bumbling on about 100mph suggests they
want wood
to break some specious record, but the idea is to take wkts and wood
doesnt do
that often enough becos despite his speed he doesnt bowl at the wkts
enough.
Hopefully he will prove me wrong but even so will really be still
effective
for the next ashes when hes 36?

that was some innings from smith, but why zarri in particular kept
bowling bouncers when he and woakes kept smashing them to the boundary
is a mystery. He did get stokes out like that but it was very
expensive.

Perhaps because from time to time there was some uneven bounce? Smith
did glove one bouncer, but it went just out of the keeper's reach. And
though the balls weren't bouncers, the uneven bounce did lead to several
dismissals, including Smith's.

Anyone know what happened to Agnew today?

I missed the start as at a family breakfast, but didn't hear him at all
when I did tune in.

Hope he's ok

Englands first series win since 2022.
Baz when interviewd after, again said were not driven by results. WTF.
Be funny if Mott started saying the same.

A few weeks off, then its 3 tests vs SL, then a dozen? t20/odi vs OZ
in sep, then off to Pak for 3 tests in oct, then back to carribean
for loads of white ball matches in nov then across to NZ for 3 tests i
n december.

I hope given the itinery, they prioritise the tests and none of the
players going to pak and NZ are chosen for the windies trip.

They said he was ill, but nothing to worry about.

Thanks - given the history, always at the back of the mind that it might
be Emma had a recurrence

Sounds like 'bad kebab' or 'slip and fall' territory though
