NZ have gone 2-0 up in their series against India. It's the first series
they have ever won in India, and the first home series that India have
lost in 12 years. Santner finished with 13 wickets in the match, and
judging by the scorecard seems to have comprehensively out-bowled Ashwin
and Jadeja.

Though conditions will no doubt be more to England's taste in NZ than
they were in Pakistan, it's hard to fancy their chances in their
pre-Christmas Test series there.

Yeah, congrats to NZ, very well played. They thoroughly deserved it.

Rohit made a blunder choosing to bat first on a cloudy wet pitch in
bengaluru, got bowled out for 46 and the rest is history.

Rohit and Kohli are at the fag end of their careers at 37 and 35.

I hope they RETIRE after the upcoming tough BGT series in late november.

Yes i'd say that NZ who are usually v diff to beat at home, must be
heavily favorites ATM. I wouldnt have rated Santner or Patel as that
great a spin duo but after seeing how shite england batted aginst spin,
i wonder if NZ might be tempted to produce a turner for 1 of the test
pitches ;) I thought that Patel is the only other bowler to take all 10
in a test innings, but i'd forgotten Kumble had done it too. They also
have some decent quicks. Either way, it looks like being a very tough
tour for England.

And Conway, Latham, Williamson and Ravindra (who hardly seems to bowl
now) look like a very solid top four, to go with a very useful middle
order.

Yep. England will probably be either brilliant or abysmal - or maybe
both in different Tests - as they don't really seem to do anything in
between.

Ravindra looks a very exciting addition for NZ. I think hes taken 10
wkts in 11 tests so clearly some potential as an all rounder. His BB is
3-33 which until the last match was better than Santners BB of 3-34.
Santner in 28 tests before this 1, had taken 54 wkts at 42, then he
takes 13-157. Compare to Bashir whos taken 41 wkts in 19 tests at 37.9,
cant bat, poor fielder, but these tests were a good chance for him to
bowl on assisted pitches he wouldnt often get in the CC. Wasted
opportunity for both him and leach.

Bazball certainly lifted the team out of the nadir they were in, but
it hasnt really addressed the underlying problems, and indeed seems
often to compound them. Plus it seemed in this match like at the oval,
england didnt really care once the game began to drift away from them.

ISTR he first played for them in an ODI series against England a couple
of years ago picked as a bowling all-rounder, batting at 7 or even 8.
That didn't last long, of course.

I'm sure they care, but when things go wrong they don't seem to have
much idea about how to turn things round.
