Botham took his 200th wkt in 1981, and Gough took his 200th in 2001
So apart from these 2 who else took the most wkts for England over the
20 years in between?

Dilley?
Daffy?
Fraser?
Caddick?

I'd have thought that out of those four, Dilley would have taken the
fewest. Matthew Hoggard might be another contender to have taken the
most.

Definitely. I'd put him behind others, such as Tufnell and Malcolm.

Without looking it up, I would have thought that Hoggard took the vast
majority of his wickets after Gough's 200th, which was in the 1st Test
of 2001.

Caddick's last Test was in 2002/03, so a significant proportion of his
would not be included, and I'd guess that the answer was Fraser.

Now to check:
Fraser 177
Caddick 156
DeFreitas 140
Malcolm 128
Tufnell 120
Cork 119
Emburey 103
Dilley 100
(including wickets taken by Caddick and Cork before Gough's 200th in the
same Test).

Hoggard actually took his first wickets in the next Test after Gough's
200th, having played one wicketless Test in 2000.

yes when i looked at his test stats, i realised it had to be Fraser. I
think he spent a fair time out with a hip injury so without that he prob
would have got over 200 as well.

i forgot all about Willis. I think he got his 200th wkt about the same
time as botham, so he must have taken about 120 wkts in 80s. Our bowling
really was quite weak after he finished and Bothams back meant he was no
longer the force he was.

Yes, in the 1st Test of 1981, 5 Tests before Botham.

He would have been next on the list with 98; 141 in total in the '80s.
