Amended squad for the november tour of windies, after Buttler again
ruled out after reinjuring himself. Bit of a snub to Salt as he was the
standin cap for T20; clearly they thought as much of his captaincy as i
did. It looks full of young bitsons and short on batters unless Joverton
is now just a batter. Chohan is a graduate from the South Asian Cricket
Academy and touted as poss successor to Rashid. Perhaps its "anyone but
Bairstow" is behind the selection of Pepper.

Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Jafer Chohan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam
Livingstone [cap], Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Michael
Pepper [wk] Adil Rashid, Phil Salt [wk], Reece Topley, John Turner.

Apparently he's only out of the ODIs, and they hope he'll be back for
the T20s, but I rather doubt it will happen.

I don't think Bairstow is in contention any more. It's sad that his
broken leg seems to have drastically reduced his ability. There is no
shortage of candidates, with Rew and Robinson (the Durham one) probably
also considered.

With two as yet unnamed players to be added once England's tour of
Pakistan is over. Cox seems likely to be one - yet another wicketkeeping
option but who will probably play as a specialist batsman.. Maybe Stone
might be the other, assuming that he isn't picked for the third Test and
so shouldn't be overly tired. Of course a lot of the squad will just be
keeping places warm for Duckett, Brook, Stokes. Smith, maybe Root (ODIs)
only, and some of the quicks.

I fear it might be a recurring problem that perhaps ends his
international career.

the continued non selection of Durham robinson is a mystery. How pepper
is above him is quite strange, unless he pissed off stokes at durham in
some way, thats all i can think of, some personal issue. theres a story
when duckett was first playing he poured a pint over jimmys head after a
match which didnt endear him to our greatest seamer. but jimmy didnt
pick the side.
incidentally i read that chohan has been signed for the bigsmash in OZ
this winter by the Sydney 6s, which seems strange as i wouldnt have
thought theres a shortage of legspinners in oz, for them to take a punt
on a complete foreign newbie. Did ECB bribe them ;)
