West Indies 2nd test

Wood in for Anderson. So they retired a 41yrold and replaced him with a
34 yrold. He bowled
fast in the windies but got collared by everyone except omanis. I was
hoping theyd choose
potty or penny.

England XI for second Test: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe
Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (capt) Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Gus
Atkinson, Mark Wood, Shoaib Bashir.

Think Windies got away with this day despite bowling and fielding poorly
[and y they put
england in beaut batting conditions _and_ leave out their best player
from lords,
Motty is a mystery] but they got 10 wkts. I thought england would still
be batting
tomorrow and get 500+ but Root, Brook, Stokes and Smith all got
themselves out.
Against a better fielding side they might not have made 300. Still very
entertaining
day for the crowd.

I didnt realise that hes gone down with flu. hopes its not covid, which
is
still going around. several riders in the tdf down with it.

Another corker of a day, wkts, 6s, runouts broken bats but only
78 overs? who was the worst culprit?

Anyway I wish england would stop bowling short rubbish at the tail
when they keep hitting them for boundaries, 386-9 quickly became 457,
that and creepys unlucky runout could have changed the game, still
might if they bowl better and get a few quick wkts tomorrow. Brook
wore a few and was very lucky with some ugly bazball attempts. Its
exciting but you feel he could get out anytime.

beginning to misbehave and bashir bowled v well. he must be that
rare thing among england bowlers, a better test average than FC. I
think his CC average is really quite dire. Apparently best bowling
by a england spinner at TB since Bosanquet, who was a bit before
my time and probably everyone else. They were going on about how tall
he is, but i think both emburey and giles were quite tall, also
shastri and ashley mallett.

Woods 1st over averaged 94mphs i think they said and he bowled much
straighter in this innings, but i expect him to be rested for edgbaston.

yes theyr gonna miss his consistency, there isnt anyone who can match
that.

Apparently this was the 1st time england have ever scored 400+ in each
innings,
which will be no doubt hailed by the bazball crowd.

That was one of the ones I couldn't work out but knowing that it has 7
letters rather than 5, now I can.
